Quality Assurance

In November 1997, we obtained ISO 9001 certification as a specialized manufacturer of automotive parts and industrial machinery equipment, serving as a core pillar of Japan’s industry. Since then, we have consistently advanced all processes from product development to manufacturing in accordance with this system.

Over 80% of the parts we manufacture are critical safety components. Guided by our motto, “Delivering 100% quality products to our customers,” we ensure reliable performance and quality through thorough in-process quality control, including 100% inspection and the implementation of FP (poka-yoke) measures.


Status of Environmental Management System Implementation

Our company is actively promoting the implementation of an Environmental Management System (EMS). We have obtained ISO 14001 certification at our Head Office Factory and Hanyu Factory, establishing a foundation for environmental management.

Centered on this initiative, we are actively advancing environmental conservation activities and the development and sales of environmentally conscious products.

History

1938-1964

Foundation Establishment Period

Founding, transition to peaceful industries, commencement of air compressor and vacuum pump production

1938

August 10, 1938: Establishment

The first president, Toshiyo Sakuta, established SANWA SEIKI Ltd., the predecessor to SANWA SEIKI. At that time, the company began operations as a “specialized gauge factory” for weapons production.

1946

September 17: Rebuilding a new management structure

Toshio Nishiumi was appointed the position of president. He overhauled the organization and personnel, and began rebuilding the company under a new management structure.

1946

October 9th, 1946: Founding Anniversary

Sanwa Seiki commenced operations under its new organizational structure. Beginning with orders from Koshin Seikosho, the company started manufacturing and selling railway vehicle components. This day is designated as the founding anniversary.

1948

December 1, 1948: Change of Trade Name

Commenced production of commercial vehicle products. Changed the company's KANJI name and began supplying air compressors, which are now the company's main products.

1956

July, 1956: Establishment of Sanshin Press Industries

Sanshin Press Industries Co., Ltd. was established as a joint venture between Sanwa Seiki and Koshin Seikosho. (Company name changed to Sanshin Industries Co., Ltd. in June 1989)

1959

July, 1959: Clarify the management philosophy

Established corporate objectives that codify President Nishiumi's management philosophy.

1962

September 11, 1962: Our employee wins gold medal

Japan made its debut in the lathe category at the WorldSkills Competition. Our employee, Katsuyoshi Shiraishi, won the gold medal.

Growth Period

Hydro servo motors, handbrake valves, cab tilt mechanisms, ET control systems, remote control valves, five-story multi-level factory, NC machine tools introduced ahead of competitors

1967

April 15, 1967: Two-story assembly plant completed

"Our first reinforced concrete two-story assembly factory has been completed. The first floor houses a newly constructed dust-proof assembly factory for hydraulic equipment components,
while the second floor serves as a dust-proof assembly factory for air brake components.

October 1, 1969:Establishment of NEL

Established Nishiumi Technology Research Institute (abbreviated as nel).

1970

March 31, 1970: West Factory Completion

The five-story West Factory has been completed.

1973

November 6th, 1973 Award

The company was awarded the Deming Prize Implementation Award for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in recognition of its achievements in total quality management and improved performance.

December 28, 1973: East Factory Completion

The five-story East Factory was completed as Phase 2nd construction.

1974

December, 1974:Establishment of Established Sanwa Midland

Established Sanwa Midland Co., Ltd. as a joint venture with Midland Ross, Inc. of the United States, which manufactures air brake products.

1976

October 1, 1976:Establishment of Three Bird Diecast Industries

Established Three Bird Diecast Industries Co., Ltd. as a joint venture with Toba, Inc.

1977

February, 1977:Establishment of Sanwa Sundstrand

Established Sanwa Sundstrand Co., Ltd. as a joint venture with Sundstrand Corporation of the United States, which developed the hydraulic fully automatic transmission (DMT).

1983

April 11, 1983: First phase of construction completed

The first phase of the Hanyu Factory construction has been completed. Production commenced simultaneously with the opening ceremony.

September 14, 1983:Symbol mark

The Nishiumi Group has established its symbol mark.

November 16, 1983:Establishment of Sanwa Packer

Established Sanwa Packer Co., Ltd. as a joint venture with Applied Power, Inc. of the United States, which holds the basic patent for hydraulic cab tilt devices.

1985

February 28, 1985: Second Phase of Construction Completed

The second phase of the Hanyu Factory construction has been completed. Production lines for vacuum pumps, car coolers, and other products have been relocated from Yono.

1988

July 22, 1988:Third Phase of Construction Completed

New large-scale press shop, cafeteria, and office building constructed at Hanyu Factory (Phase 3 construction).

1988

September 1, 1988:Establishment of Sanwab EBS

Established Sanwab EBS Co., Ltd. as a joint venture with Germany's WABCO, developer of ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and ASR (Acceleration Slip Regulation).

1990

May, 1990:New office building

New office building (5 stories) completed in Yono.

1991

March 11, 1991:Establishment of Kawagoe Factory

Established the Kawagoe Factory. (Later renamed “Kawagoe Second Factory”)

1996

November 18, 1996:Fourth Phase of Construction Completed

The 4th phase of construction at the Hanyu Factory has been completed. An extension to the nel laboratory has also been implemented.

1997

November 28, 1997:Gain ISO9001 certification

To enhance customer satisfaction and expand into international markets, we have obtained ISO 9001 certification.

April, 2001: Business Transfer

Bosch Corporation transferred its air compressor business to us. We are now the sole manufacturer of air compressors for domestic commercial vehicles.

Achieved ISO 14001 certification.

2002

January 1, 2001: Merger

Merged with Sanshin Industry Co., Ltd.

2002

July 1, 2002: Merger

Three Bird Diecast Industries Co., Ltd. will be merged and designated as the Kawaguchi Factory.

2004

November, 2004: Establishment of SHANGHAI SANWA in Shanghai

Established SHANHAI SANWA INC. as a wholly-owned subsidiary.

2010

August, 2010:Hanyu Second Factory

Hanyu Second Factory begins operations.

2012

September, 2012: Completion of the Head Office / Main Factory

The headquarters factory was completed in the Kawagoe Second Industrial Park, and the offices and factory were relocated from the Yono Factory. Consequently, the former Kawagoe Factory was renamed the “Kawagoe Second Factory.”
